George Arabbu Ndege serves as the President of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) for the 2025–2027 term, representing all built environment disciplines including architecture, engineering, urban planning, landscape, interior design, and project management. His leadership journey began with his election as sole nominee during the 2025 AGM, following his tenure as Vice President under Arch. Florence Nyole. As a partner at Sitescape Studio Limited, Arch. Ndege brings extensive industry experience, having also lectured part-time at the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, and Nairobi Institute of Technology. His presidency is focused on five clear priorities: governance and financial sustainability of AAK; increasing professional regulation across unregulated chapters; harmonizing development control and urban planning standards; promoting ethical business practices; and strengthening member support, enterprise, and capacity building. Under his stewardship, AAK is championing sustainability in Kenya’s built environment. Ndege has advocated for green building certification adoption—such as the upcoming Safari Green Building Index—and greater participation of architects and planners in national housing initiatives. He has been vocal on the need for professional leadership in Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme, urging policymakers to allow technical experts to guide delivery rather than political spectacle.
