Dr. Destaings Nyenyi Nyongesa is the Head of Research & Innovation at the Pan Africa Tourism and Hospitality Research Institute, part of Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC) in Kenya. An accomplished economist with a PhD and MA in Economics, Dr. Nyongesa previously served as Senior Lecturer and Dean of the School of Business and Economics at Maseno University. With extensive expertise in econometric analysis, public finance, environmental economics, and sustainable infrastructure financing, he has contributed to numerous high-impact consultancies focused on labor market information systems, regulatory economics, and development projects. His proficiency includes advanced statistical tools such as STATA, SPSS, EViews, Minitab, and programming in Python and R. At BIHC, Dr. Nyongesa leads the institute’s research initiatives and innovation agenda—bridging academic rigour with industry relevance to shape policies and practices in African hospitality and tourism development. He has also served on governance bodies, including as a member of Kenya’s Competition Tribunal and a committee member for the Bungoma County Assembly audit team.
