George Ireri is the Eco-Rating Officer (Cities & Urban Areas Certification) at Ecotourism Kenya, the leading body behind Kenya’s national Eco-Rating Certification Scheme. As Eco-Rating Officer for urban accommodations, he spearheads the growth of certification among city-based hotels, lodges, and serviced properties to elevate urban tourism standards and sustainability. With a background as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) associate expert, George brings expertise in environmental audits, climate change adaptation, occupational health and safety, and risk assessment. His work ensures that city lodging providers are assessed and supported in adopting responsible tourism practices, guiding them toward bronze, silver, or gold certification under the Eco-Rating scheme
